What are you talking about?

Do you have the expectation that you always need to be doing something?  Or always on the go?  There seems to be that expectation of so many of us.  If you don’t resonate with this statement, congratulations you may be on your way towards achieving balance in your life.

For those of us still learning the lesson, it’s a challenging one to master.  You get time off from work and what do you do but create a mile long to do list of everything you’d like to do.  While there are some times where that works to your advantage, but other times you’re teetering on the edge of burn out and might be better served by reading a book or binge watching television.

Relaxation time isn’t something that most of us incorporate into our busy lives and why not?  We’ve been trained not to.  You’ve been taught to always be on the go.  That peace and quiet is a bad thing, which is exactly the opposite of what it is.  Peace and quiet helps to rejuvenate you.  It can also allow spirit to speak to you.

First thing in the morning just as you’re getting up is a great time to receive messages.  Or even better when you’re taking a shower.  Now what do they have in common?  Most of the time you’re relaxed.  As you plan your schedule for 2021, make sure you spend some time to relax.  If you wake up with a headache, spend some time in solitude.  Don’t push yourself.  We all need more time to relax.

What do you do to help you relax?   Let me know. Do you want to know more, click here to book a discovery session or an appointment.

What does 2021 have in store for you?

What does 2021 have waiting for you?  It’s the question that you want to know at the start of a new year, but especially after the challenge that was 2020.

As a student of astrology and numerology, I look to the cosmos for the answer.  Based on numerology, we’re looking at a 5 year (2 + 0 + 2 + 1 + 5).  But what does that mean?  We’re looking at a year of change.  The basic foundations of your life took a tumble in 2020.  You look at the world, so many people are on the verge of being homeless and waiting in line for food assistance.  What does that mean for them or you?  Your story hasn’t been told yet?

If you look at astrology, the planets Jupiter and Saturn told the story in 2020.  For 2021, Saturn and Uranus will be in charge.  You’re going to be looking at creating a new structure for your life.  Again, there’ll be an emphasis on change.  We had some sneak peeks at different points in the year as Jupiter and Saturn both moved into Aquarius and then retrograded back into Capricorn.  We’re finally moving forward.

We’re still at the stage where we can guess what our story will be.  Numerology and astrology can give us an idea of where the changes can happen, but nothing in this world is definite even if it seems fated.  The timing could be off.

You have to trust that the universe is there to support you.  It’s teaching you and guiding you to become the person you’re meant to be.

Your story will further unfold over the months in 2021.  What are you looking at?  Be prepared!  We’re still in the middle of the tale.  We’re on the ride.

Your life isn’t set in stone.  It’s a journey.  There are things for you to learn.  These events each contribute something to your story.

You never could have predicted the path your life would take in 2019 or 2020.  You’re intrigued by what 2021 has in store, but I want to skip to the end of the book and see what it says.  You have to trust that things will work out how they’re supposed to.

Be prepared for what 2021 has in store for you.  Hope you set some intentions on New Year’s, but it’s not too late!  Do them now.

Auld Lang Syne

Auld Lang Syne is a song that many people sing at the beginning of each year.  The song began as a poem by Robert Burns.  It goes:

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne.

Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my jo,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne,

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp!
And surely I'll be mine!
And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

Chorus

We twa hae run about the braes
And pu'd the gowans fine;
But we've wander'd mony a weary foot
Sin auld lang syne.

Chorus

We twa hae paidl'd i' the burn,
Frae mornin' sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.

Chorus

And there's a hand, my trusty fiere!
And gie's a hand o' thine!
And we'll tak a right guid willy waught,
For auld lang syne.

Chorus

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And long, long ago.

Chorus

And for long, long ago, my dear
For long, long ago,
We'll take a cup of kindness yet,
For long, long ago
And surely you’ll buy your pint-jug!
And surely I'll buy mine!
And we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
For long, long ago.

Chorus

We two have run about the hills
And pulled the daisies fine;
But we've wandered manys the weary foot
Since long, long ago.

Chorus

We two have paddled in the stream,
From morning sun till dine;
But seas between us broad have roared
Since long, long ago.

Chorus

And there's a hand, my trusty friend!
And give us a hand of yours!
And we'll take a deep draught of good-will
For long, long ago.

Chorus

This song has been one that I’ve never understood what it means.  As we move from 2020 to 2021 it takes on a meaning for me.  In 2020, we have fought a battle of sorts with COVID or are fighting against losing a way of life.

We want thing to stay the same, but it’s just not possible.  Not one of us will be or can be the same once this year is over.

We can only see what 2021 has in store for us.  What we do know is that 2021 needs a little more kindness.  Reading out and helping our fellow neighbors who are hurting.  Maybe they’ll reach back and we can “hold hands” on our imagination.

We need to be there for each other and support each other.  2021 still has lessons for us, but they’re always easier when a trusted friend has your hand.

My wish for 2021 is that we can find a new sense of life that feels freer.  That we can be kind to ourselves and our neighbors who are suffering and come together to create a better vision for the world.

Look for the Miracle

If any year feels like you could use a miracle, it would be 2020.  Christmas is a time for miracles!

Have you ever experienced a miracle?  When the odds are against you, but somehow, some way, things end up ok.

When I was a teenager, I got to witness a Christmas miracle from the sidelines.  At Christmas, my grandparents and great aunt would come to celebrate at our house.  For some reason that year, we were at my grandparents’ home.  Her sister called on Christmas Eve to let us know her daughter’s husband had been taken to the Emergency Room.  My grandmother was hard of hearing, so all her conversations were on speakerphone.  The odds weren’t good.  He only had a 25% chance of surviving an aneurysm.  Somehow, someway, he is still with us.  All the people that needed to be there for him to survive were.

That Christmas has stuck with me for more than 20 years now.  I don’t remember what I received for gifts or what we ate, but I remember the miracle we received.

This year’s Christmas is going to different for a number of reasons.  It won’t make it any less special.  It could be a year that stands out.  A year where you appreciate what’s around you.

We always seem to want what we can’t have.  It’s part of human nature.  This is a time for gratitude, joy, and the unexpected miracles that can come our way.

Miracles wouldn’t be what they are if they happened every day.  The Spirit of Christmas, whether you celebrate it or not, is full of magic. You must look for it, though.

The days are shorter, and it gets dark early, but with the darkness comes Christmas light displays and candles in the window.

If you haven’t decorated yet, it could be for so many reasons.  People are more depressed this time of year.  We miss what isn’t with us, but what if it is?  Magic and miracles are all around you.  No matter what your feels are during this season.  Maybe this year, everything changes for the better.  You don’t know if you aren’t looking.

Look for the miracles.   They aren’t always what they seem.  But they are there. Let’s end the year on a positive note.

Time to Count Your Blessings

It can be challenging to even think of being thankful or counting your blessings when it appears there’s so much wrong in life. 2020 has made it difficult for even the most optimistic to find a silver lining.  There is one, but you have to look harder.

What have your lessons been this year?  Would you have found them if COVID hadn’t happened?  Each one of you wants the world to go back to “normal”.  But what does that mean?  With the holiday season upon us, it’s more important than ever to find that sense of magic.

It could be that you rely on some sense of tradition.  Decorating the house.  Being appreciative of the people around you every day.

You can dig deeper.  Maybe you have found what’s truly important.  You’ve learned something about yourself that you wouldn’t have in some other way.

I have learned a lot about myself.  There was a point in time that I disliked any change whatsoever.  There’s still a piece of that attitude there at times.  Other times I can roll with it and ask what does Spirit have in store for me?  Like most of you, I don’t care for wearing a mask, but if it keeps me and those I care about safe I will continue for as long as necessary.  But thanks to COVID, I have learned what’s true about my own energy and how that is seen by those around me.  I have learned what I truly value and am in the process of aligning my life with those values.  I don’t think I would have seen either of these without COVID.

The beginning of the year gave me the freedom to finish my empowerment certification program.  I was also able to concentrate on expanding my knowledge of astrology.  Still working on this and I think I always will be, but I’m ok with that.  I’m starting to read charts for my family and friends, something that I wouldn’t have had the confidence to do a year ago.

To move forward this practice is essential.  It can be hard to reflect, but it’s necessary.  Take the time to figure out your lessons.  They are so important to what 2021 has in store for you.

What Type of Person Are You?

Who are you?  Are you an impulsive person who acts before you think?  You see something then you grab it.  Or are you the person you’ll ponder something until it seems like you’re being forced to make a decision.  It would seem like the ideal would be to be somewhere in the middle with a sense of balance in your emotions.

This is holiday time, so retailers are counting on the impulsive side of you.  The part of you that does, I want it.  I must have it and I want it now.  Retailers aren’t looking for the person who takes 6 months to make a decision.

I worked in a grocery store for more than 6 years.  They base the layout of the grocery store on impulse shoppers and capitalizing on that emotion.

Your inbox gets flooded with sales offers.  50% off your purchase.  For the impulse person, it can be a challenge to see how much you can save.

The other type of person, he or she ponders the same purchase day after day, week after week.  Until they’re finally ready to make that purchase.  You can drive those around you crazy while you make your decision.

You don’t really want to be either type of person in this case.  You want a balanced approach.  You want to educate yourself to make the decision and then make the decision.  This could take a few hours or a few days depending on the decision.

What do you need to do to feel confident in your decision?  There’s a reason why experts tell you to sleep on it.  Let it sit for a couple of days and come back to it.

Decisions that take too long to make, may never happen.  Decisions that are made impulsively can lead to an accumulation of things you don’t need.

Decisions are important.  They have the possibility to changing the course of your life, but it’s important to make one.

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Normally this is the time of year where the holiday season kicks into full swing! We’ve had Thanksgiving and Black Friday.  In my household, the Christmas decorations have gone up.

Christmas parties are on the calendar.  It’s time to celebrate with our friends and family.  But this year, everything’s different.  The regular traditions you’ve always known aren’t happening.  Every day the COVID numbers go up more.  You’ve had to make hard decisions about your values.  Is it safe to spend time around all your family?  Is it safe to travel home?

There are so many questions and very few answers.  The one area that it seems to point back to is what do you value?  Do you value stuff over the people in your life?  Sometimes the little things can mean a lot more than you thought, like getting a homemade card or a lollipop from a child.  Those gestures can take on a different meaning, especially this year.

For a long time, I accumulated lots of stuff (clothes, movies, music, and books).  I would rush out on Tuesday to buy the newest release.  I didn’t know it at the time, but I was trying to fill a void with things.  Over the years I’ve been working at removing the void.  I still have stuff to get rid of, but that’s for another post.

2020 has forced me to examine what do I value?  I had to cut a lot of expenses that seemed like they brought me value.  And for a time, they did.  I had outgrown them and was having trouble cutting the cord.  Others, I thought things would change and I might be able to keep them while everything got sorted out.  Some hard choices have been made.

There are still hard choices to make.  Some get pushed back because we aren’t ready to make, others get pushed in our face until we make it.

You have the right to choose what you value.  You’re the only one who can make it.  It’s not an easy time for so many people in the world.  It’s easy to lose sight of what’s important.  This holiday season remember what you value.  It may look different than before but’s not any less important.

Forward March!

Have you been waiting for the energy to feel right to move forward?  This is the time to start taking action.  You’ve had the opportunity to get clarity on your plans.  You’ve been learning lessons.  You’ve even experienced some situations a couple of times now, but most of us haven’t felt like we can move forward.  There was always something that held you back.

All the inner planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) are now out of retrograde.  Pluto is also moving direct again.  Only Uranus and Neptune are still in retrograde.

With Mars now moving direct you can start to put your plans into place.  You can make headway with all those things that you’ve been wanting to do.

So much of this year has felt like our lives are on pause.  COVID has put a damper on the ways that we celebrate and has changed our everyday lives.  We can’t do things the way we did.  Our holidays are going to be different.  Nothing is what it was, but we finally have the opportunity to move forward if we choose.  You have the choice.  The choice doesn’t mean that you can stall what’s happening around you, but you can decide to move forward or stay still.  I wish I could say that you can move back in time, but life doesn’t work that way.

Whether you move forward today, tomorrow, next week or next month doesn’t make a lot of difference, but forward momentum is good.  I know that change can feel terrifying at times.  There are big changes I’m still making in my own life.  Fear is coming to the surface.  But remember the only way to overcome fear is to face it.  You have to face it head-on for it to lose its own power.

So, this week face your fears and move forward in some area of your life.  Even if it seems small.

Where are you moving forward?  Let me know. Do you want to know more, click here to book a discovery session or an appointment.

Accept It

The world seems to be of two extremes now.  Joy or the inability to accept what’s transpired.

It’s easy to feel giddy when things go the way you want, but do you do when they don’t.  Things don’t always go as we’ve planned or expect.  There are days when you come up with a plan and just as the day begins your plan has gone awry.  It’s the nature of life.

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross identifies the 5 stages of grief as: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.  Getting to the acceptance phase can take time and, in some cases, might never happen.

Denial.  We don’t want to hear it.  We want to hide from the world.  The idea that this can’t be happening right now.  It can’t be true.  Anger.  The pain starts to emerge.  We lash out at ourselves and those around us.  Bargaining.  The if only statements begin to appear.  We want someone else to step in.  Why couldn’t it have happened differently?  Maybe it still could.  Depression.  Sadness and regret.  Acceptance.  The stage where peace is made.  This process can happen quickly, or it may never reach completion.

It's ok to be upset that things didn’t work out how you wanted.  They don’t always, but it’s not ok to try and manipulate matters to meet your needs.  Give it a chance and see what happens.

We’re in a huge state of change in our lives.  Change is easiest when it’s the one we choose.  It’s difficult when it’s not.  It doesn’t change the reality of what’s going on.

What do you need to accept?  Let me know. Do you want to know more, click here to book a discovery session or an appointment.

Into the Unknown

You’re in uncharted territory right now. Don’t worry you’re not alone. Who could have predicted any of this? But let’s take it as any opportunity l. It’s any opportunity to take care of yourself while answers come.

So, what does that mean for you? I can give you some suggestions. Maybe stay from anything that is speculative. That could mean news, it could mean Facebook or large group gatherings (which with COVID shouldn’t be happening).

Try and pay attention to your body. When you start to feel anxious or overwhelmed take a step back. It’s ok to say that I can have this conversation right now and step away. We all must do what we can to stay in a good frame of mind while we wait for answers. Like anything clarity will come but it doesn’t always happen our timetable.

It’s not always our choice. It would be so much easier if it was. When we first step into the unknown it can bring up a variety of emotions but the most likely one is fear. Fear can paralyze you and keep you from taking the steps you must do.

It sounds so simple but don’t take this piece of advice for granted. Take a breath and step away. Allow yourself to recenter and come back to it later. That’s it! When we have an opportunity to reflect, we can look at a situation differently than when we’re in an emotion. Any emotion!

Take care of yourself during this challenging time. Life will still be waiting for you when it’s over.
