Look for the Miracle

If any year feels like you could use a miracle, it would be 2020.  Christmas is a time for miracles!

Have you ever experienced a miracle?  When the odds are against you, but somehow, some way, things end up ok.

When I was a teenager, I got to witness a Christmas miracle from the sidelines.  At Christmas, my grandparents and great aunt would come to celebrate at our house.  For some reason that year, we were at my grandparents’ home.  Her sister called on Christmas Eve to let us know her daughter’s husband had been taken to the Emergency Room.  My grandmother was hard of hearing, so all her conversations were on speakerphone.  The odds weren’t good.  He only had a 25% chance of surviving an aneurysm.  Somehow, someway, he is still with us.  All the people that needed to be there for him to survive were.

That Christmas has stuck with me for more than 20 years now.  I don’t remember what I received for gifts or what we ate, but I remember the miracle we received.

This year’s Christmas is going to different for a number of reasons.  It won’t make it any less special.  It could be a year that stands out.  A year where you appreciate what’s around you.

We always seem to want what we can’t have.  It’s part of human nature.  This is a time for gratitude, joy, and the unexpected miracles that can come our way.

Miracles wouldn’t be what they are if they happened every day.  The Spirit of Christmas, whether you celebrate it or not, is full of magic. You must look for it, though.

The days are shorter, and it gets dark early, but with the darkness comes Christmas light displays and candles in the window.

If you haven’t decorated yet, it could be for so many reasons.  People are more depressed this time of year.  We miss what isn’t with us, but what if it is?  Magic and miracles are all around you.  No matter what your feels are during this season.  Maybe this year, everything changes for the better.  You don’t know if you aren’t looking.

Look for the miracles.   They aren’t always what they seem.  But they are there. Let’s end the year on a positive note.
